What competitor traffic estimates mean
Updated 6 October 2026
Two different measurements
Third-party organic traffic estimates combine observed keyword positions, search-volume estimates and a click model. Search Console reports measured search performance for properties you control. They answer related but different questions.
Why figures differ
Providers have different keyword coverage, update dates, locations and devices. Search results also vary. An estimate can miss long-tail queries, local results or a recent ranking change. No provider sees every search and click.
Compare consistently
Compare domains using the same provider, market and date range. Use the result to identify pages or topics worth inspecting, then examine the underlying queries. Avoid presenting a competitor estimate as the number of people who visited that website.
Use first-party evidence for your own site
Connect Search Console with an authorised account to inspect your own queries, pages, impressions and clicks. Some data is filtered or aggregated, so even first-party tools have reporting limits. Label the source in client reports.
How YAZBASE labels data
Research snapshots preserve provider, market, language and retrieval date. Estimated traffic is explicitly described as an estimate. Missing results remain unavailable rather than being replaced by invented numbers.
