YAZBASE FIELD NOTES

A focused SEO audit checklist

Updated 6 October 2026

Start with access and indexability

Check that important pages respond successfully over HTTPS. Review robots.txt, noindex directives and canonical choices. A page-level check cannot prove that Google can crawl every resource or has selected your preferred canonical. Use Search Console to investigate those questions.

Give each page a distinct purpose

Write a descriptive title and a clear primary heading. A meta description should explain why the page is useful; Google may choose a different snippet. Avoid repeating the same commercial target across several near-identical pages.

Check links and page structure

Use descriptive internal links to connect related pages. Important pages should not depend on a visitor searching the site. Inspect broken links and redirect chains with a full crawl; a homepage check alone cannot discover every issue.

Measure performance separately

A static HTML audit does not measure real-user Core Web Vitals. Use field data where available and a repeatable lab test to investigate problems. Do not treat a lab score as proof that every customer has the same experience.

Prioritise and verify

Fix problems that block discovery or prevent people from using important pages first. Record the change, rerun the relevant check, and follow Search Console over time. A passed checklist is not a ranking guarantee.
